Today, one year ago, I published Therapy for Ghosts and began my self-publishing journey. It's been quite a year of learning, trial and error, meeting readers and authors, and growing as a writer. Just for fun, here are some stats from my first year:
Number of website views: 10,212 Number of free downloads: 14,479 Number of books sold: 772 Number of books written since Therapy for Ghosts was released: 3 Number of pizza slices consumed: unable to calculate It's thrilling to be pursuing my dreams as an author. Thanks to everyone for their support! Here's to a great second year ahead. The manuscript of The Reckoning (The James Women Trilogy Book Three) is officially with my editor. By far, it has been the fastest book I've ever written. The manuscript took five weeks to finish--three weeks to write and two weeks to edit. November is National Novel Writing Month, but I decided to make August my novel writing month this year. The Reckoning will be released soon, and the saga of the James women will come to an epic conclusion! To celebrate the release of Sleepwalking into Darkness, the sequel to Therapy for Ghosts, I decided to make Therapy for Ghosts free on the Kindle through the KDP Select option this past weekend. I hoped for 200 downloads. I love underestimating. 5,051 downloads later, Therapy for Ghosts ranked #3 in the suspense category and #45 overall in the Kindle Store on Amazon (see the screenshot to the side). People love free stuff, and ebooks are no exception! It's exciting to know more than 5,000 new readers have access to the first book, and hopefully they'll want to come along for the ride and continue the rest of the James Women Trilogy. Happy reading, my 5,000 new friends! |
