Putting the "Fun" in Fundraiser

The Barnes and Noble Fundraiser for the Unbound Book Festival was so much fun and a huge success today! We had a great crowd and the buzz in the store was exciting all day long. Lots of local writers like Laura McHugh, Alex George, Keija Kaarina Parssinen, Marlene Lee, Steve Weinberg, Walter Bargen, Nina Furstenau, Cathy Salter, Kit Salter, Ann Detwiler Breidenbach, Marta Ferguson, and Jill Rosenfeld Orr participated in readings, book discussions, and other engaging events throughout the day. As you can see from the photos, we had quite the all-star cast of writers all assembled on one day in the same store. It doesn't get any better than that. This is just the fundraiser, so I can't wait to see what the actual book festival is going to look and feel like next year! So exciting!

For more info about the Unbound Book Festival coming next year to Columbia, MO, on April 23, 2016, check out the website at www.unboundbookfestival.com.

Standing Out and Filling Your Plate at the Crowded Banquet

I had the opportunity to do a guest blog about book marketing on Susan Finlay's wonderful blog, Susan Finlay Writes.  In the blog, I discuss the challenges and opportunities of making your book visible in the crowded market. Of course, since I'm a food guy, I equated everything to food and the blog ended up as a strange, tasty metaphor. Enjoy!   https://susansbooks37.wordpress.com/2015/04/13/standing-out-and-filling-your-plate-at-the-crowded-banquet-book-marketing-an-article-by-author-eric-praschan/comment-page-1/#comment-3432

I had a wonderful time at MU's Writer's Workshop held at the Mizzou Store today. We had a great turnout, and I had the opportunity to meet many writers and hear their stories. It's always fun to connect with other authors and share experiences. Thanks to Heather Tearney and Mizzou Publishing for hosting the workshop!

An update from the writing cave in my office. I'm a little over halfway finished with the next novel. As you can see, the floor is covered with Post-It notes and pages from a notebook, each littered with character ideas and scene concepts. They're the final puzzle pieces of the story. Time to see how they all fit. Let the fun begin...

Book Worms for Life

This past Saturday I had the opportunity to talk about my book, Therapy for Ghosts, at the Osher Saturday Morning Book Talk in Columbia. The monthly event is hosted by Kit Salter and Cathy Salter and is just about the most fun you can have before noon on a Saturday anywhere! We had a wonderful, engaging group this past Saturday, and the discussion was a lively time filled with lots of laughter. I'm so grateful for the literary family of authors and readers in Columbia who love books and support creativity. I feel inspired by my artistic city, and I'm encouraged that so many beautiful souls are bookworms for life.  :)
